Monday 22nd March - walk *** - Felixstowe sunrise prom walk – cloudy.
With wall-to-wall sunshine forecast it seemed a good opportunity for
another sunrise walk along the prom at Felixstowe. Mag and I woke at the
same time around 5.20 and sat up together and we bumped heads really hard,
not a great start to the morning! We were down on the seafront at 5.35 but
sadly it was very cloudy and we did not get even a glimpse of the sun:(
Still it was still and quiet walking all the way to Jacobs Ladder with only
a few joggers about. There was a noisy droning container ship heading into
the docks and four people in the sea by the pier, not swimmers as they were
just bopping up and down! Then home for a cuppa and read.

Monday 22nd March - bike **** - Falkenham Church Circuit– sunny
periods.
The sun soon came at breakfast time and I even managed to do my exercises
in the back garden with the kittens chasing flies! Mag made a sandwich and
were set off on our bikes around 12.30 heading over to have lunch with
‘Emily’ at Falkenham Church. At The Dip we turned onto the prom past
the golf course to Felixstowe Ferry which again was quiet and with the tide
low I stopped to get a couple of pics. We bumped into windsurfing mate Mark
Swain working on his boat stopping for a chat before continuing out along
the River Deben path now dried out nicely as a keen NW breeze had picked up
making it a bit hard going. Past Kings Fleet we took the second foot path
up to the church and had a hare jump over the dyke in front of us. Our seat
was free at the church and had a relaxing lunch enjoying the view with
several birds singing in the trees. The snowdrops are all but gone to be
replaced by daffodils. Heading for home we used footpaths over the farmland
seeing what crops had been planted this year. So we were out over three
hours in mainly sunshine covering 12 miles seeing a nice variety of wild
life including hare, curlews, shell ducks, red shanks, egrets, gulls, reed
buntings, swans, moorhens, tits, chaffinches, partridges to name but a
few:)
